Ransomware attack on NHS systems could take weeks to fix, major IT provider warns
A cyberattack that hit a major IT provider for the NHS and severely affected the 111 service involved ransomware and could take up to four weeks to fix, it has emerged.
The attack had wide-ranging implications, affecting the system used to dispatch ambulances, book out-of-hours appointments and issue emergency prescriptions.
Researchers Find Vulnerability in Software Underlying Discord, Microsoft Teams, and Other Apps
Again at Black Hat — Security researchers presented their findings, detailing how they could have hacked people who use Discord, Microsoft Teams, and the chat app Element by exploiting the software underlying all of them: Electron, which is a framework built on the open source Chromium and the cross-platform javascript environment Node JS.
Starlink Successfully Hacked Using $25 Modchip
At Black Hat, Belgian researcher Lennert Wouters revealed how he mounted a successful fault injection attack on a user terminal for SpaceX’s satellite-based internet system using a homemade circuit board that cost around $25 to develop.
Knowing the critical nature of its security, SpaceX already has responded to Wouters’ presentation with a six-page paper published online inviting security researchers to “bring on the bugs” to help the company better protect the Starlink system as well as offering a detailed explanation of how it protects Starlink 👏🏻👏🏻
